Family-Friendly Events in Singapore, 5–11 October 2026
The Singapore History Gallery reopens after three years and the whole museum is free to everyone for three days, sunflowers fill the Flower Dome, and if your child was born this year there is a date in March that decides whether the $500 Child LifeSG Credits reach them.

Things to do with kids this weekend
Code and Go: Adventures with KUBO Robot at Bukit Batok Library

An hour of screen-free robotics for children aged 5 to 8, built around storytelling and craft rather than a tablet. Registration is required and one ticket admits one person, so a parent and child need two. Arrive fifteen minutes early, because late seats go to the waitlist.
F1 LEGO Experience the Thrill at Suntec City

A life-sized VCARB Formula 1 car built out of LEGO to stand next to, plus four missions around the atrium; finish three of the four and there is a LEGO steering wheel or a voucher while stocks last. Race weekend is the same weekend, so the roads around Marina Bay are busy, and Suntec is a short walk from Promenade and Esplanade MRT.
Funtastical World of Fungi at the Singapore Botanic Gardens

An exhibition that opens with live bioluminescent mycelium glowing in the dark, then goes on to how fungi grow, feed and reproduce. NParks lists it for children and families and it is wheelchair accessible. It carries on outdoors at all five gates, so you can take a slice of it on a walk.
Nobel Laureates Portrait Exhibition, the last weekend

Around 35 portraits of Nobel laureates by the photographer Peter Badge, with augmented-reality content, transparent holographic screens and a digital guide. It sits outdoors in the Silver Garden and costs nothing, so it works as twenty minutes on the way to somewhere else. Sunday is the last day.
Singapore History Gallery reopens at the National Museum

The gallery has been shut for three years and opens on the Saturday with 700 years of Singapore in seven sections, entered through Singapore Odyssea on Level 2. For children the parts that land are physical: a restored HDB lift you walk into, interactive food and fashion stations, and voice stations where they record their own answer to each section.
Sunflower Surprise: Garden by the Ocean

More than 5,000 sunflowers across 20 varieties, some reaching 1.8m, set around a Portuguese seaside: striped fishing-town houses, a 6m lighthouse and the bow of a carrack. It opens the Friday, so this is its first weekend. The Flower Field inside the dome is closed on Thursday for a changeover.
Deadlines in October
All good — no nationwide deadlines for October. Still worth a look at the Coparent app for the personal ones tied to your child's date of birth.
On the horizon
My baby was born this year — do we still get the $500 Child LifeSG Credits?
Child LifeSG Credits is $500 for each Singapore Citizen child aged 0 to 12, from the Ministry of Social and Family Development. It is paid once per child, not once a year. Unlike Large Family LifeSG Credits there is no marital-status condition and no birth-order condition: MSF's wording is that it goes to all families with a child aged 0 to 12.
Who gets it: every Singapore Citizen child in that age band, at $500 a child. It is paid into the child's Child Development Account, to whoever is the CDA trustee on MSF's records on the assessment date.
There is nothing to apply for. For children already born by 2025, the assessment date was 1 June 2026 and payment ran from 14 July 2026. For a child born in 2026, there is a separate, later assessment date of 1 March 2027, with payment from April 2027.
So the date to hold is 1 March 2027. The credit follows whoever is the CDA trustee of record on that day, not whoever becomes trustee afterwards, and a newborn with no trustee nominated by then does not receive it. If your child arrived this year, the useful thing to do between now and then is check the CDA trustee is set. One more thing worth knowing: MSF describes the credits as a support measure for 2025 and 2026, and nothing has been announced about whether they continue past that.
